Nam U/20 in Training - 22 November 2009
Namibia's under-20 squad is in training camp in Windhoek with 23 players called up to prepare for the COSAFA U-20 Youth Championships in South Africa next month.
The team have a couple of new faces with the most notable one, Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) youthful keeper Andre Fug and the return of Absalom Imbodi to the fray.
Namibia opens the championships with a date against host South Africa on December 6 at Dobsonville. Namibia then plays Comoros on December 11 at Eldorado Park with their final Group A match to be on December 11 against the Seychelles at Dobsonville. The competition will require member nations to submit their final team lists by November 27 which will include 20 players, five officials, plus a referee who has been appointed by the COSAFA Referee Committee. But according to Namibia Team Manager Jakes Amaning, the team that will be trimmed to 18 travelling players and they are expected to leave on December 3. " we only take 20 players because at the end of the day u only use 18 players so its also a cost-costing measure for us as we are driving to these tournaments", Amaning explained.
Namibia will be represented by Alex Tiyeho in the middle of the park with no assistant's referees from Namibia selected by the committee.
NFA technical Director Klaus Staerk and SKW coach Richard Starke continues to manage the team.
The competition ends on December 15.
